While the rest of us are still trying to figure out what to make of the star-studded, Jon Favreau-directed torrent of amazing concepts that is the upcoming feature film Cowboys & Aliens, Gameloft is making some plans. Word has it that they’ve acquired the rights
to produce a mobile game based on the bizarre comic book IP
Gameloft produces almost all of their games for the iOS and Android platforms, so it is presumed that those are the two platforms the game will be appearing on. The game will be released for sale alongside the feature film of the same name when it releases this July.
“We are confident Cowboys & Aliens will translate into a great mobile game that not only stays true to the graphic novel, but brings a new experience to a classic license,” Karine Kaiser, vice president of marketing & licensing for Gameloft
, ” Gamers and fans alike will be thrilled.”
We’re not really sure what the game will play like, but to be perfectly honest it would be very hard to screw up a mobile game called Cowboys & Aliens. Frankly, we’re surprised it took this long to get made. Gameloft has a proud history of making film-licensed iOS games that are absolutely fantastic so we’re looking forward to seeing what they can do with this license.
