GM and OnStar today sent word that their promised remote control apps have arrived for both Android and iOS devices. The free myChevrolet, myCadillac and OnStar MyLink (all App Store links) titles try to cover every aspect of driving. They can remotely unlock, start or sound the horn on the car as well as access information from the car itself, such as the fuel and oil levels, the tire pressure and the odometer.

Some car-independent features have also made their way into the apps and revolve the most around parking. Users can flag the parking spot on a map, add notes with photos and start a timer to avoid running out the parking meter. It can provide quick access to roadside help or find the nearest dealership for a given brand to get a repair.

The apps should work with virtually all 2011 model year cars under the respective brands and should work with modern versions of Android and iOS.
