Best Buy is not planning on distributing iPads to its employees, according to a report from the Wall Street Journal. Though iPads are not being given out like candy, the electronics retailer did confirm it is using a variety of devices as part of its “Connected Store” pilot program. Several select retail stores are participating in this program and are testing the Apple iPad, the Motorola Xoom and the Samsung Galaxy Tab.
The program is designed to equip sales associated with a limited number of handheld devices used to help customers evaluate a product and make a purchase decision. Best Buy would also like to make it easier for customers to get hands-on time with these new gadgets and latest technologies. The company is still assessing the utility of this program and has not made a final decision on whether to expand it beyond this limited test run.
