Some folks out there are discovering a very sinister conspiracy between Apple and major Hollywood movie studios. The iMovie Trailer feature launched as part of iLife ’11 has arecently unearthed restriction – the inability to use real studio names in the trailer.
TUAW reports the following:
As you can see in the picture, someone tried to input Universal for the “studio name” field. iMovie detected this, and substituted the hyphens. Further, he reports you’re able to use the string ‘Universal’ in other themes, just not in this one. Was this accommodation reached directly with Universal, perhaps to prevent any derailing of Universal’s deal for distribution on iTunes and Apple TV?After further testing users found that iMovie won’t allow you to use the word Universal on top of the Globe, or Paramount on top of the mountains with stars.
