You start off as a beginner chef and work hard to earn the position of head chef of the world’s best restaurant. You can design your own place, cook delicious meals and then show them off to all your friends when you visit their restaurant.
I have to admit, I can’t stop playing this game.
When you first start the game it will show you the basics of what you need to do to play the game. It is very easy to pick up. To begin with, your little restaurant is setup with tables and chairs for your hungry customers.
To get started, you have to purchase kitchen equipment to start cooking. Choosing a recipe is as easy as tapping on an oven and selecting what meal you want to serve. As your business grows, you’ll need additional equipment like hot plates to serve warm meals to your customers.
The game is all about cooking and serving, but there is a lot of fun things to do while playing the game past these basics.
When you start cooking with your stove, each food item takes a different length of time. The game is played in real time, so you have to make sure that when the food is cooked you are able to serve it. If you leave it too long, it will collect flies and need to be trashed. Don’t worry about missing a cooked meal though, since the app will notify you when it’s ready.
Every time you select a meal it keeps a record of it in the recipe section of the menu. Once you cook a dish enough times, you will master that particular recipe. The aim is to master all of the recipes. The more you do, the more sucessful your restaurant will become.
Once your money starts building up you can start decorating and expanding your restaurant. The money and chef points you earn from serving customers goes towards the items you can buy. Some items are locked until you reach a set ability level. Most of the time you will start off with the very basics, and then as each item gets unlocked, the better and more stylish they become. The further you advance in the game, the more of a necessity the bigger and better tools become.
You can sell items back to the store should you need some extra cash, or just want to replace your old standard ones. You can also expand the restaurant when you reach certain levels. As you do, you will also unlock more staff members. Obviously the bigger and better your kitchen gets, the more staff you are going to need.
There is also a little trophy section under the menu. This is where all the figurines of your staff are kept. There are also items to collect when you master certain recipes or get a promotion.
The game is going to keep you playing for a while. I don’t mean all at once, but this is a game that is definitely on-going for a good period of time. The recipes that need mastering and the items that need collecting when you have mastered a recipe all give you a reason to keep coming back to play.
I have played it since it was released, and I continue to play it daily. You can compete with your Game Center friends, and even go visit their restaurants. When you do, you can pop a note in their post box or gift them an item. These things are great and welcome social parts to the game.
I love the animation and sounds to Pucca’s Reastaurant. The chefs make cute happy woohoo sounds as they work, certain to put a smile on your face. The various dishes you are cooking sizzle away and sound very realistic, and they certainly look good when done.
It is really hard to find something about this game that I didn’t like or that I felt could be improved. There are in-app purchases available to help you speed up your meals or to get that gorgeous table for your customers, so at times it can be slow-paced if you don’t buy these. Saying that though, I’ve played the game totally without buying any in-app purchases and I have progressed very well. You can manage without; you’ll just have to play at a slower pace. It is the type of game you have to keep coming back to throughout the day — a bit like Farmville and the We Rule kind of game. So if you can’t do this, maybe the game isn’t for you.
Pucca’s Restaurant is a brilliant, fun game to play. It is perfect for any age and a game that you will find very hard to put down.
